About Wulstan's Lodge

Established over 40 years ago, initially operating from Vale Road Community Centre in Stourport, the group first opened in 1982 as a playschool. Development into an Early Years setting for pre-school children - St. Wulstan's Nursery was formed.

In 2009 St. Wulstan's Nursery moved to the current setting in Elmfield Walk, Stourport and now operates as Wulstan's Lodge part of St Wulstan's Childcare Groups.

Many changes have occurred over the years and we now operate a successful choice of childcare options for children aged 2 - 11 years. Our nursery is open term times with our day starting with a Breakfast Club from 7.30am and ending with Afterschool club on till 6pm . 

During the School holidays we offer competitive priced Holiday clubs from 8am - 5pm for children aged 2 - 11 years. With a range of activities to accommodate all interests, abilities and ages, including sport, music, creative arts and crafts, team games and drama, so even if Mum and Dad have to work, make every day memorable.

We pride ourselves on being a small yet perfectly formed unique setting managed by a dedicated committee made up of volunteers. As a registered charity we are a non-profit organisation where all profits are invested straight back into the setting, enabling us to make it the fantastic environment it is.

We are extremely proud of our Good Ofsted rating and we strive to reach outstanding on our next inspection. 

"Staff place a strong focus on developing children's communication and language skills. They read good-quality books to children and sing with children throughout the day. Staff narrate children's play and repeat words, such as 'splash'. This results in children becoming more effective communicators."

    Our staff at Wulstan’s Lodge comprises a blend of mature, experienced and professionally qualified Early Years practitioners and trainees working towards their qualifications. All staff are skilled in expertly guiding your child through the wonders of learning whilst playing.

    The committee is responsible for the overall management and smooth-running of the pre-school. Made up of both parents and members of the local community, the voluntary elected management committee strive to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and make it a happy and safe place for the children who attend.
